last update on: 04/10/2026

In this module you will explore the world of Virtual Reality, from its definition and evolution to its main features, tools and applications in education, tourism and hospitality. You will learn about its strengths and limitations, discover real examples of VR in VET, and experience how this technology can create safe, engaging and immersive learning environments.

ABOUT THIS TRAINING

Virtual Reality (VR) is one of the most widely known immersive technologies, allowing learners to step into fully digital environments where they can interact, explore and practice safely. This module introduces the fundamentals of VR, its main features, strengths and limitations, and its applications in education, tourism and vocational training.

To support your learning, TourXpeRience has developed a set of structured units that guide you through the essentials of VR:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to Virtual Reality

Discover what VR is, its historical evolution, and watch an introductory video showing real-life applications in practice.

  • Unit 2: Main features

Understand the key characteristics of VR such as immersion, interaction, multisensory experience and real-time feedback.

  • Unit 3: Strengths and weaknesses

Analyze the benefits of VR in training (engagement, safety, cost-effectiveness) alongside its limitations (equipment costs, accessibility, motion sickness), supported by case examples.

  • Unit 4: Areas of application

Explore how VR is used in education, tourism, cultural heritage and creative industries, including video demonstrations of practical applications.

  • Unit 5: VR in VET -Tourism

Learn how VR supports experiential learning in tourism through real-life examples such as virtual city tours, hotel simulations, eco-tourism experiences, and customer service training. Engage in an interactive activity to reflect on the benefits and challenges of VR in tourism education.

  • Unit 6: Tools and devices

Get to know the hardware and software behind VR, from headsets and controllers to platforms and apps, with comparisons between low-cost and professional solutions.

By the end of this module, you will be able to explain the role of VR in VET, analyze its strengths and weaknesses, and apply VR tools to real tourism training contexts.

Are you ready to step inside the virtual world and experience how VR is reshaping the future of tourism education?
