MODULE 3: AUGMENTED REALITY

MODULE 3: AUGMENTED REALITY

last update on: 04/10/2026

In this module you will be introduced to Augmented Reality, exploring how digital content can enrich real environments through mobile devices and AR glasses. You will learn its main features, strengths and challenges, discover applications in tourism and training, and see how AR supports engaging, interactive and context-aware learning experiences in VET.

ABOUT THIS TRAINING

Augmented Reality (AR) enriches the real world by overlaying digital content onto our physical environment, creating interactive and context-aware experiences. This module introduces you to the definition of AR, how it differs from VR, and examples of how it is already present in daily life.

  • Unit 1: Introduction to Augmented Reality

Learn what AR is, how it differs from VR, and explore real-life examples through a short video demonstration.

  • Unit 2: Main Features

Understand the technical aspects of AR such as real-time interaction, context awareness, multisensory integration and device compatibility.

  • Unit 3: Strengths and Weaknesses

Analyze the main benefits of AR for training (engagement, accessibility, contextual learning) alongside its limitations (device dependency, limited field of view, technical issues), supported by case examples.

  • Unit 4: Areas of Application

Discover how AR is applied in education, tourism, cultural heritage, creative industries and retail, with practical demonstrations of its use.

  • Unit 5: AR in VET -Tourism

Explore real-life AR applications in tourism training, from city tours and museum guides to eco-tourism, customer service role-play and language learning. Take part in an interactive activity to reflect on the opportunities and challenges of AR in tourism education.

  • Unit 6: Tools and Devices

Get familiar with AR technologies, including mobile devices, AR glasses, and software platforms, as well as examples of educational AR applications.

By the end of this module, you will be able to explain the role of AR in VET, assess its benefits and limitations, and identify opportunities to integrate AR into tourism education.

Are you ready to see how Augmented Reality can bring new dimensions to the way we teach and experience tourism?
